A Trip to the Moon is best be described as an eccentric recording project. This debut album is split in half. The first section is an upbeat blend of guitar and electronic pop that wends its way through samples, instrumental looping, and stories of finding sanity's end. The second half slows down and would appeal to lovers of ethereal bands like Mogwai. The album ends with a version of Cleveland Park, the dividing song between the halves, that has been stretched to over twice its length.
Recommend for fans of The Books, Mogwai, Sigur Ros.

A Trip to the Moon is the solo project of Andrew Bales. The self-titled album was released in 2008 and features Nathan Wilder, Zach Pavey, Anthony Piazza, David Krehbiel, Dorlan Bales, and Mike James.
